Nearly ten years since Martin Margiela stepped away from the house he created, the iconic leather flat pattern jacket from his spring 1998 collection has made its way back into the spotlight to remind us of his inspirational designs. Constructed to lie completely flat when unworn, Margiela was fascinated by tailoring, construction, and proportion, and presented the collection without models- but flat on hangers.
Thick leather with raw seams and rounded shoulders created from flat jacket patterns, complete with pattern hook holes punched at the top of the shoulders. Large plastic zipper and elastic panel across the back yoke. We would wear with a black Margiela knit skirt and black ankle boots, paying homage to the innovative designer.
